Today's Banking lesson.
Today a lady name Rachel came into class to teach us about credit and credit history. She taught us that if you have good credit than you are more likely to get get a loan from the bank. We also learnt that you get good credit by making payments on time and also that the bank judges your credit by your rent payments and other things like that. Another thing that we learnt was that if you have bad credit you can rebuild it by making more frequent payments, paying on time and by paying back extra.

Today's trip to Stardome's.
Today the whole senior school went to the Stardome observatory in One Tree Hill.
We arrived at the Stardome car park at around 11 am. We exited the bus and found a place to sit under a tree and ate our lunch. Once we had finished our lunch we went and walked around the area that we were allowed to play in. After we had exhausted all the other things to play on we started to Ball Rush which my 2 other friends kept winning round after round soon after we had to go into Stardome. Once we went in we were in the Space Room with our guide Tim. At the start Tim said that we could ask some questions about Space and Astronomy, we asked a series of questions about Space things and Astronomy, Tim gave very detailed answerers to our questions and we learnt a lot.
After our session in the Space Room we were allowed to go out and have a look at the displays but before we left we Tim told us the rules so that we don't break anything. We looked around at all the displays and model Space Rockets until we were called into the observatory.
We walked into the observatory, found a seat and listened to Tim. Tim established the rules of the observatory and then started the movie. The movie was projected onto a big dome that was protruding out if the roof. At times in the movie I thought that I was moving not the movie.
After the Movie Tim showed how to find the planets and the Southern Cross and also a way to find where South roughly is.
We walked out of Stardome and entered the bus which was going back to school.

Todays Science Club.
Today for science we took a walk to Tamaki College to go to a science class where we did many different experiments and played with heaps of different robots. My favourite experiment was with two different chemicals which were Hydrogen Peroxide and Potassium Iodide we also put dish washing liquid into it, as-well as food colouring, and when they were all combined it made mass amounts if foam that was called Elephant Toothpaste. For the robots I liked a crane which was remote controlled and could pick things up and put them down another thing that you could do with those robots is pick up bombs and dispose of them. Another thing I liked was a hexagon helicopter is it could fly in the air over 200 metres.

Child Abuse.
Recently my reading group has been debating on the topic of Child Abuse, for one of our tasks we had do a report on it.
This report is about Child Abuse and states whether it is a good thing or a bad thing to do.
A report of child abuse is made every 10 seconds, almost 4 children die every day to child abuse. And 30% of abused children will later abuse their children.
Although Child Abuse is against the law some parents still assault their children, sometimes so badly, they end up in hospital with injuries ranging from head trauma to broken legs.
Abusing a child can have a very bad mental effect on the child such as Anxiety, Depression, Dissociation, Difficulty concentrating, Academic problems in school aged-Aged children and adolescents, Withdrawnness and/or difficulty connecting with others, Flashbacks and Increased Hyper-vigilance.
The consequences for assaulting a child is a life time requirement as a child abuser, Termination of parental rights, Ruined reputation, Criminal record, Supervised access with the child, Physical or actual loss and enjoyment of a child and Continual involvement with a child protective services agency.

Food-Tech Basic-Sponge
Today at food tech me and my cooking partner made Basic Sponge.
The recipe was almost the same as the Dutch Apple Cake we made last week.
After we had made our mixture we put the mixture in the oven at 180 degrees Celsius, and waited for about 20-25 minutes.
Once the Sponge looked golden brown we took it out and put a knife in the middle of the Sponge to see if it was cooked and for the 3rd knife poke it was.
after we had cleaned up the small amount of mess that we had on our work bench me and my cooking partner cut the Sponge into quarters and took 2 each and then we wrapped them up in tin foil. Lastly we cleaned the baking tray and indulged in what we had made.

My World War 1 Inquiry Project Presentation
This term we learned about World War 1 and the 100th year of the ANZAC. The school commemorated the centenary year with an emotional remembrance day "Lest we forget." This is when I decided to inquire into what happened in World War 1.
My peers and I did our inquiry projects around this theme. I researched information about WW1, processed the information, used relevant facts and suitable images to produce this movie. I storyboarded my ideas and facts, and then found suitable images to relate to and support my facts.
I enjoyed learning about the war, creating my movie and sharing it with the rest of the world. I wish to acknowledge the user friendly BBC Schools - World War One website I found very useful for facts and images about some aspects of war.
Please watch the movie and leave a comment. Thanks

Term 1 Reflection
During term 1 our class had good, bad, and ugly times we started of the term with a familiar teacher Mrs Tofa.
our class were going to M.A.D.D workshops where we learnt about our cultural beginnings and how everybody is unique in their own way. Mr Petia, who is one of the teachers at the M.A.D.D workshops donated his art work, which he would draw after the workshop, he drew Superman, Hulk Flash, and Captain America with more to come.
We also had our last ever Life Education session in the Life Education Caravan we learnt about how drugs and Alcohol can affect puberty. we also learnt about the 5 body systems which are the Respiratory system, Digestive system, Circulatory system, Nervous system and the immune system.
After our lunch breaks we would then go to the pool and swim, when we were swimming some of the class learnt new swimming styles and improved on Freestyle and Backstroke, the new styles some people learnt are Butterfly and Breaststroke. After we had done our swimming exercises we would get free time to play in the pool.
This year Mr Nath picked 16 players to go the tamaki cluster cricket tournament. During our lunch time we would play cricket and he would coach us on what we need to work on. we won all our games except 1 against St Pius. But our team still came first out of the whole tamaki cluster.
The senior school also participated in the welcoming of two boats that came from Hawaii using the same tools that the maori people used to get to New Zealand. We had to walk to the Point England beach and sit on the grass only a few meters away from the shore of the beach. After about 5 minutes of sitting and looking around we started to see another boat coming around the corner. We were watching the boat and the people come off it using a little boat carrying the people in groups of four, soon after all of the people were on land and all the schools, which was most of the ones in the tamaki cluster stood up and did a haka, we repeated it about 8 to 10 times. Once we finished our haka we sang some songs and listened to some speeches. After everybody had finished speaking we stood up in lines and went down to meet the people that sailed here from Hawaii.

He also said that mistakes aren't always a bad thing and that you should try to do what you are good at and that for some athletes it takes 10,000 hours of practise to get to where they are after he had told us about that he split us into groups and each group had to do a skit. after our skit he drew wonder woman and donated it to the school like his previous drawings.
