Net-book Reflection

How has having a netbook helped my learning ?

Having a netbook has helped me in my learning because if I don't know something I can Google
it and find out simpler and easier ways and if I had paper I would have to ask others or the teacher and that wastes time and if the teacher is testing I can't disturb her

Has having a netbook helped you communicate with the teacher ?

It has helped me communicate with the teacher  because all I have to do with my work is put in the the correct folder then my teacher can see my work

What have you learnt on-line ?

I have learnt how to use Google docs and how to use my email account and how to use a blog

What have you learnt from your friends ?

I have learnt how to post presentation on my blog and how to the whole of Google such as [ Google images Google docs Google maps and Google sites.]

Have you helped any other people this year ?

The past few days I have been reading a book called the Vege car. You can find it in the School Journal part 3 number one 2007.

The story was about a man that made his car run on vegetable oil instead of normal fuel.

One of the questions I had to answer on the task sheet that I was given was: has this text shown how important it is to save the environment? How?Explain your answer. I think that what he is doing is great for the environment because in the book it says that the vegetable oil that he is using is 100% good for environment.

What I learnt this week

This week I have learnt that gasses in the atmosphere that surround planet Earth absorb and release inferred radiation, and that our planet is warming up and that the warming could have a huge impact on the Antarctic marine life food circle.

response writing

This article was about Maori and Pasifika students failing national standards and most of them being Maori and Pasifika students. This  article was written by Kate Shuttle-worth .

I think that the writing was good because it uses good quotes from people.  Also the Education Minister Hekia Parata said that 1 in 5 students are failing. Maori and Pasifika students are making up much of the under achievement but I don't think that it is fair to just blame Maori and Pasifika  because it could be other ethnicities.

Liz Gordon an independent researcher found 74 percent are male that are failing but I don't think that it is just boys because some girls like to chat with each other during class and don't know what to do.

I think that this article will get students and others to try and learn so that the Minister and other people say that it isn't Pasifika and Maori students that are failing  school and national standards also the government might think that the teachers are to blame because they pay they teachers to teach the students but if the kids aren't learning the teachers pay might be cut off they could be fired because the pupil isn't listening or behaving .

My dad has a black thorny  beard  and is tall he likes to wear  clothes that matches. He has tattoos on both arms on his right arm he has the Wilson clan insignia. On the left arm he has our names  he  has dark chocolate brown eyes and dark black  hair and he is  33 years old.

My dad is funny and likes to be cheeky he  also likes to joke around  with us and his friends . My dad says that I look like him when he was my age but he had  black hair and brown eyes when he says that he points at the photo on the fridge. The picture is of him and his cousin when his cousin was a baby.

He is helpful because whenever I need  help with anything  he helps me with stuff like  my homework. Sometimes  he is  fun because he plays with me and my brother and sister and sometimes he will play video-games with me. Sometimes he doesn't like it because he is already doing something or because I'm too good and he gets angry because I  keep winning  but he get angry in a funny way .

He's  tall so its hard to lose him in a crowd of people. He's also strong and funny he’s got  good  taste in things like clothes and shoes and other stuff to spend  money on. My dad likes to spend time with us when he has nothing to do   .

Reflection of Week 3

This is a reflection of what I learnt last week.

This week I have learnt that pi is 3.14  and how to use it to find the circumference of circles. I also learnt how to  measure the perimeter of shapes.

I also learnt how to write a persuasive text. It was about whether children should work from the age of 8 to get their own money. I personally agreed.

In reading I learnt that in India they use the methane gas from cow dung to cook their food.

Friday, 16 August 2013

This week we were learning how to write persuasive writing. This is my writing on the topic we were discussing.

The topic being addressed in this text is the notion that children should work for their own money from the age of 8.

I strongly agree that  children should work from the age of 8 and I will support my position with arguments in this text.

First, it would teach children self management and could also teach children to set goals. It would teach children how to save up for something that they would like.

Secondly, it would teach them how to be more responsible in life. It would teach them to manage their time by saying no to going out because they have to work.

Thirdly, children wouldn't have to miss out on school because children's parents could home school them for an hour or more.

Fourthly there might be less poverty because the children could help out with the bills and they would have money to  fall back on.

Finally, I  strongly agree with this topic. I have elaborated on why I agree with this topic and hope children will be able to work from the age of 8 to support themselves.

On the Tenth of August a 33 year old man named Phillip Layton Edwards was on the run after   he kidnapped a toddler named Gabriel Donnelly. They found the toddler in a garage half naked, he had no t shirt on and was cold but he was unharmed. Phillip served a nine year term after killing a former television host David Mcnee he was 55 years old. Phillips is still on the run from Auckland Police.

In my holiday’s i went for a long 3 hour bush walk at Hunua Falls in South Auckland. At one point we had to go up 18 flights of stairs, but it wasn't all bad because on the way there I saw some stunning views. My dad an I scared my mum sister and brother by hiding in the bushes and under the bridge then jumping out and frightening them!.

Then we had to walk on some rocks to get over a stream and my brother fell in but he only wet his shoes because my dad caught him just in time.  At the end of the walk we turned and headed back to the start. We then grabbed out our food and ate it by the extremely loud and big waterfall.  My dad told me that he jumped off the waterfall once with his friends.

I also went to Rainbows End with my brother, sister, my Poppa,[grandpa] my Auntie and my two cousins. We went on the roller coaster the fear-fall, log flume, power surge, invader and the pirate ship. The fear fall and the corkscrew roller coaster were thrilling rides ... I loved it!!

Limerick (Funny Poem)

1. Once there was a man who lived in Jester and had something fester he went to the doctor whose name was Ester, when he saw he pulled out his saw and chopped off his arm. The man said "There you go." and ho ho ho Merry Christmas to ya and walked out then he went around the roundabout then dropped right on a bed and his last words were "What a soft landing."

2. Once there was a man who lived in a pan and ate his shoe with goo then he saw a cat that he grabbed and ran for his life and told his wife.

3. Once there was a dwarf who lived by the wharf then a man eating some ham said "Why don’t you go for a swim?" with a funny grin the dwarf replied and said "If you don’t go away i'll make you pay!" then the man ran in terror and sparks flew out of his body then he started yelling error and fell into shark infested terror.

4.There once  was a maid who loved marmalade and her boss made marmalade then she just couldn't resist the temptation, she ate it whole even with the bowl and when her boss found out she made her walk on hot coal.

5. Once there was a man who drove a golden Holden then one day it got stolen and he never saw it again.
